Teenagers
Helping teens navigate life’s challenges and discover their true potential.
Counselling for Teens
It can be really difficult as a parent when we hear our teens express feelings like “No one likes me”, “You don’t understand”, or “Is life going to be like this forever?” We want to provide comfort and support, but sometimes our efforts fall short. We may say things like “It’s going to be okay” or “It’s part of growing up” but these can feel dismissive and may leave our teen feeling unheard.
The truth is, being a teenager can be tough. There are so many new experiences and pressures to navigate. As parents, we try to help our teens by talking to them, being patient, and creating a supportive environment, but it’s not always easy. Sometimes our teens may not be receptive to our attempts to help, and that can be frustrating. If you’re struggling to connect with your teen, you’re not alone.

Therapy for Teenagers
It’s okay to feel unsure or overwhelmed, and it’s important to remember that your teen is going through a lot. Today, teens face a variety of pressures that as parents, we may not be readily equipped to handle.
It can be difficult for teenagers to cope with the challenges and changes that life throws their way. While some may be better equipped to handle these situations than others, almost all teens can benefit from talking to a counsellor about their struggles.
How Therapy can Help your Teen
One-on-one psychotherapy for teens can provide a safe and supportive space to express their thoughts and feelings without fear of judgment. Trained therapists offer a neutral perspective and can help teens explore their emotions in a confidential and non-judgmental setting. We understand that parents may be deeply invested in their children’s well-being, but we also know that sometimes teens may not be receptive to their parents and need someone outside of their immediate family to talk to and work through their issues with.
Therapy sessions support the development of independence and autonomy, teaching teens to problem-solve with guidance from a professional who promotes healthy decision-making and personal growth. We believe that every teen deserves to be heard and understood, and our therapists can offer alternative viewpoints and help teens see the bigger picture. This can be especially valuable during times of conflict or when teens are grappling with difficult decisions.
Therapists are also trained to address various mental health issues, including depression, anxiety, trauma, and behavioural challenges. We can tailor our approach to meet the specific needs of each teen, providing targeted support that parents may not be equipped to offer.
Healthy Relations with Peers & Family
Therapists can help teens navigate these relationships, address conflicts, and develop healthy communication skills. We can also teach valuable life skills that will help them cope with the pressures of daily life and prepare them for long-term success.
It’s important to note that therapy does not replace the role of parents, but rather complements it by offering additional support and resources. Therapists can help mediate and offer insights that contribute to a healthier parent-teen relationship. A collaborative approach involving both therapy and parental involvement can create a more comprehensive support system for teens, guiding them toward a happier and healthier future.
